Adoration

Having triumphed in their first day of Euclid demonstrations, students on the California High School Summer Program hustled to St. Cecelia Hall for swing-dance practice. They learned several new moves to add to their repertoire, including their first dip! The practice ended with 15 minutes of free dance, during which students put all their new steps together and rotated dance partners.

Dancing

Breathless from dancing, they then resumed their usual routine of recreation time until dinner. Many occupied both volleyball courts during the entire recreation period, playing the entire hour and a half until dinner. Preparation for today’s volleyball tournament, perhaps?

Dinner was a crowd favorite: macaroni with a choice of protein, accompanied by broccoli, a strawberry smoothie, and poppyseed cake for dessert.

Study hall

Afterward, it was of course time for study hall, and students resumed their dedicated Euclid study — Propositions , , and for Friday’s demonstrations. They also read up on Kierkegaard: Fear and Trembling, but you’ll hear all about that in this afternoon’s blog post!

The evening Rosary was especially serene and took place in front of the Blessed Sacrament. As students gathered for a night of Adoration, Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity Chapel was suddenly filled with the sounds of men's and women’s voices united in harmony. Anthony Santine (’25) and a group of fellow prefects had put together a small repertoire of chants, hymns, and polyphony, which resonated beautifully throughout the Chapel’s wonderful acoustics.

Coffee Shop

Rejuvenated from this time of worship, students spent the last hour and a half before curfew enjoying milkshakes with friends in the coffee shop, playing Ultimate Frisbee, or simply playing cards. At curfew, they headed back to their residence halls, tired but happy, ready for a good night’s sleep.

Today is the last day of classes before the weekend! In the meantime, though, students are accomplishing another day of Euclid. The Summer Program Blog will have a full report on that, as well as Kierkegaard, this afternoon. Goodbye for now!
