Until Next Time!
Following two full weeks of classes, conversations, countless shared meals, and so much more, the New England High School Summer Program drew to a close today. The previous evening stretched late into the night, as students were reluctant to say goodbye to the prefects and their new-found Summer Program friends. Many even skipped sleep altogether, either waiting to catch flights early in the morning or keeping company with departing friends.
After Mass this morning, programmers gathered one more time over brunch before loading suitcases into waiting cars. As the campus gradually emptied, the College settled back into its usual summer quiet, carrying with it the memories of two weeks filled with laughter, study, and friendship.
We hope that these daily blog posts and photographs have provided families and friends a glimpse into academic and spiritual life of 51. Sharing these moments has been the work of our dedicated media team: blog writer Eve Fitzpatrick (’29), photographer Samuel Livingston (’26), student videographer Philip Fiacco (’28), and web assistant Peter Doylend (’28). May God bless them all for their hard work and love for their college!
Thanks are also due to Dr. Paul Shields and the other College tutors who guided sections during this Program, and to the entire Admissions and prefect teams, led by Director of Admissions John Jost and our head prefects, Dani Van Wyk (’26) and Matthew Bohrer (’26). Finally, special thanks go out to the College’s head chaplain, Rev. Greg Markey, and our visiting Summer Program chaplain Rev. Moses (Luke ’14) Blain, O.Praem.
Above all, thank you to the programmers themselves, whose enthusiasm, curiosity, and generosity of spirit made these past two weeks such a joy. We are equally grateful to their families for entrusting them to the College. Please know that it has been a privilege to share this experience with them all.
Programmers, we hope to see you again soon! Perhaps as members of the 51 Class 2031? It’s never too early to start that application …
