When Saturday night’s last hurrah drew to a close,  it was time for students on the One-Week California Great Books Program to say goodbye.

Many students arose before the sun this morning to catch early buses to the airport, while others visited with friends until parents arrived to take them home. 

Programmers bid farewell, exchanging hugs and wiping tears as they made plans to keep in touch and see each other soon. Many students expressed a desire to visit TAC again during the upcoming academic year. This Summer Program, despite being only a week long, created meaningful connections between programmers and prefects. All hope that this parting is only a short one.

On behalf of all at the College, we would like to express our gratitude to everyone involved in making the 2026 One-Week Summer Program so wonderful. That starts with Rev. Andrew DeSilva (‘03) for serving as the program chaplain, as well as to Program Director Dr. John Finley for his guidance in the classroom. We are particularly grateful to the dedicated team of prefects who worked tirelessly over this past week to ensure that the students all felt at home here at the College. Finally, none of this would be possible without Jon Daly, executive director of Admissions and the entire Admissions Department, guiding all the behind-the-scenes operations.

Finally, the College would like to thank the amazing student crew that has been faithfully producing content for this blog over the last 8 days! Grace Doyle (’27) has written the twice-daily dispatches with great style and dedication, and Abby DeKroon (’27) has blessed us with her beautiful photographs. Their work has come at the expense of many a late night and many an early morning. Thank you, Grace and Abby!
