With thesis defenses behind them, the Class of 2023 came together to host the last dance of the semester, the Chez Martin: a fundraiser for the senior gift, a final hurrah, and a fun night for all.

Dancegoers first made their way to the Fritz B. Burns Auditorium in St. Cecilia Hall for the evening’s entertainment, a video retrospective of the Class of 2023’s time at the College. While much of the video highlighted students’ past shenanigans, it also had its heartfelt side, featuring a memorial for late classmate Maggie Yanoschik (’23), who passed away in 2021. 

After the entertainment, guests made their way to an unconventional but picturesque venue: the wide walkway behind St. Gladys Hall, overlooking the athletic field and the mountains beyond. The dance floor was decorated with an elaborate chalk mural of the sun surrounded by a bright fractal of purple and pink blossoms. In keeping with the night’s overarching theme, the film Tangled, the electric string lights were hung with paper lanterns, while “Wanted” posters of beloved seniors flanked that of the film’s dashing protagonist, Flynn Rider.

Under the bright spring stars, friends danced the chalk flower into oblivion and lingered over fine charcuterie; there was even a limbo competition, in which Brigit McNeil (’23) proved the undisputed victor. All in all, it was a splendid finale, both for a year of splendid dances, and for the Senior Class itself.
